Lys & Canon or Lily & Cannon in his third book, Christian Polak presents to the public new uncovered images and letters of French people who stayed in Japan between 1860 and 1910 : the botanist Ludovic Savatier who introduced the strawberry in Japan, and the Japanese lily in France ; new documents concerning the Shimonoseki war by Alfred Roussin and his splendid watercolors ; the first French phographers in Japan during the last year of the Tokugawa shogunate with Fauchery, Du Pin, Le Bas and Champion undiscovered images ; and the story about the famous french company Schneider Le Creusot which delivered all the necessary cannons for the japanese new warships of the Imperial Navy from 1890 to 1894. " Lys & Canon " celebrating party was organized at French embassy in Tokyo on 13 February 2014.
