      Lys & Canon or Lily and Cannon, in his third book, Christian Polak presents to the public new uncovered images and letters of French people who stayed in Japan in between 1860 and 1910 : the botanist Ludovic Savtier who introduced the strawberry in Japan, and the Japanese lily in France ; new documents concerning the Shimonoseki war by Alfred Roussin and his splendid watercolors ; the first French photographers in Japan during the last years of the Tokugawa shogunate with Fauchery, Du Pin, Le Bas and Champion undiscovered images ; and the story about the famous French company Schneider Le Creusot which delivered all the necessary cannons for the Japanese new warships of the Imperial Navy from 1890 to 1894.  " Lys & Canon " celebrating party was organized at French embassy in Tokyo on 13 February 2014.
